Whipcheck Safety Cables are available in two cable diameters and a number of different configurations. Whipcheck offer additional safety for compressor hoses in enclosed or critical enviroments. Whipcheck safety cables have been used for many years on air compressor hoses to prevent hose ends from ‘whipping’ if the coupling blows out of the hose. Whipcheck safety cables are available in 1/8″ (3.2mm) and 1/4″ (6.35mm) cable diameters and in two basic configurations – hose to hose and hose to tool. Hose to Hose are used at the joint between two hose assemblies. Hose to Tool are used at the junction between the hose and the tool but are also very important at the compressor end. The compressed gas can be very hot causing the hose to soften which in turn can lead to an increased possibility of failure.

A pressurized air hose in case of hose failure or accidental uncoupling could cause the hose assembly to whip violently due to the sudden release of energy. Whipchecks are hose arrestors made of corrosion resistant, high strength – steel, aluminum, copper or stainless steel which on installation diverts strain from the coupling to the whip check.
Installation of whipcheck is easy and requires no tools- the spring loaded loops of the whipcheck are opened and slipped over each hose providing a firm grip on the hose and avoiding it from whipping in case of accidents. Whipchecks are commonly used on hose for air, water blast, drilling, steam, concrete, sandblast or other high pressure applications.
Use of whipchecks has been made mandatory by Workers Compensation Boards, Bureau of Mines, OSHA and various other government bodies.
Whipcheck safety cables are strong steel cables with spring loaded loops. They are used on air and steam hoses for the safe holding of assemblies should they become accidently separated. When a hose is disconnected under pressure the hose will whip violently potentially causing injury to those nearby. Whipcheck safety cables prevent injury to operators and damage to plant and machinery.
