Regular Cable vs. Swaged Cable
While there's nothing wrong with regular wire rope for use as a drumline, many of our customers choose to go with swaged cable. Our regular wire rope is typically a 6x26 WS construction. This gives you larger outer wires and flexibility, which is a great combination. It's also quite affordable, and if treated well it will give a good lifespan. But, swaged line has all those benefits and then some. Swaged cable is also a 6x26 WS construction, but it's compacted. This gives it two main advantages. Because it's compacted, it's smoother, which makes it hold up better on the drum...it doesn't "scrub" and wear itself out from abrasion. It also has greater linear density (it weighs more per foot) and is therefore stronger by quite a margin vs. regular cable.
