The damage and prevention and control steel rope of the crane wire rope is a flexible force transmission component in the machine. As far as the wire ropes used on the crane are concerned, there are many specifications and complex use, and its strength, flexibility and wear resistance are higher. With the long use of wire rope, the phenomenon of damage or breakage is often produced in recent years. Accidents caused by special and heavy cranes are frequent. Below, according to the practical experience in recent years, the author describes several kinds of damage and prevention methods of steel wire ropes for cranes. Here is some typical situation of wear.
1) the external wear wire rope is in contact with the surface of the pulley groove, the drum wall, the hook head and other objects in the process of use, and the diameter of the rope will be finer and the thin steel wire on the outer surface will be smoothed after the external wear, which reduces the cross-section of the load bearing steel wire and reduces the breaking load of the wire rope accordingly. The single week wear is more serious than all week wear. The single week wear should be changed to uniform wear as far as possible, and the uniform wear should be done in the long range of the wire rope as far as possible. If the medium head is used, the service life of the wire rope can be extended from 30% to 40%.
2) the damage of wire rope surface caused by vibration and collision is a partial wear phenomenon. If the wire rope on the surface of the roller is impacted by other objects, the hoisting wire rope is entangled with each other, or the rope phenomenon caused by the skew of the pulley and the center of the reel, the wire rope will be deformed and worn.
3) in the process of internal wear, because of the bending of the wire rope, the interaction between the steel wire and steel wire is slipping, the contact stress between the strands and the strands increases, and the steel wire between the adjacent strands produces the local indentation, and the stress concentration is broken at the deep concave when the cyclic stretching and bending is repeated, and the internal wear is formed. Usually the pressure of the surface of the fine wire is proportional to the pressure of the wire rope. Under the same tension, the pressure of the unit area is different because of the different area of the compression. From the surface compression wear, the wire rope is more favorable than the point contact with line contact, and the surface contact is more favorable than the line contact. Therefore, the choice of wire contact or the type of wire rope is an effective way to reduce the internal wear. Besides, the bending degree and speed of the wire rope affect the internal wear of the wire rope.
